What a most timely and profound and inspiring metaphor type message my Sister in Christ; and from someone I truly admire! You really did something special here in bringing out this point, which is absolutely true!
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21)
And so inspiring to me on this Christmas week is the fact that you brought this up mentioning here in this passage by Saint Thomas Aquinas.
“The things that we love tell us what we are.” —St. Thomas Aquinas
Because I really needed to contemplate and delve into his teachings in my prayers this week starting today with this posting, and how this all coincides perfectly with past inspirations and definitely things I need to reexamine; being truly grateful for all my blessings and sufferings! Then how the writings of this monk Thomas Kempis that are particularly inspiring to me, which I’ve actually been reading; dovetail with your posting!
“If God were our one and only desire we would not be so easily upset when our opinions do not find outside acceptance.” ― Thomas à Kempis, The Imitation of Christ.
Perhaps this previous posting of mine will be helpful to you or someone else who is reflecting in prayer upon this very Saint’s writings finding it helps in seeking Truth and peace during this Holy time of the year, when we thank God for being born into this too often sad world; because He loves us that much!

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Matthew 22:37
God bless you and yours!
Merry Christmas!
Brother in Christ Jesus,

If your only motivation is money, you will not succeed. If money is a part of that dream, that’s great. What you really have to pursue are those things that you truly love. You will lose any pursuit if it is one dimensional. Pursue what you love and success is guaranteed.
