A Church At Twilight…

Bravo Joyce!
Awesome shot, a real magic moment when your feelings and conceptualization intersected with the light, shadow and substance; quite stunningly! 🙏

Perhaps this photo was two years in the making because now it’s quite timely in that is carries an encrypted metaphoric message contained therein; of how darkness has fallen upon God’s church by those nefarious men who serve darkness! 🙏

“Blue happens to be my favorite color; all of my life!

“Blue : Symbol of the Virgin Mary. Usually worn on Mary’s Feast day. Black: Used in Masses for the dead as a sign of mourning.” elrenosacredheart.com

“A color no longer considered liturgical but used in certain religious services at certain times. It indicates constancy, fidelity, genuineness, and aspiration. It is the color specially associated with the Blessed Virgin. A special papal indult allowed some dioceses to use blue vestments instead of white on the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Mexico and Lourdes in France enjoy this privilege. Many white vestments today are ornamented in blue for use on feast days of Our Lady.” catholicculture.org

And worth mentioning because there are hues of purple here.

“The color blue, according to many Bible scholars, represents Heaven. Blue is the color of the sky and a reminder of the heavenly realm.”

Purple. Purple is associated with Lent, the religious period of fasting and prayer that begins on Ash Wednesday and lasts 40 days as it leads up to Easter. The symbolism of the color purple in this context has to do with penitence, remembrance, royalty, and spiritual wealth.

Purple: Worn during the Advent and Lent seasons, purple reflects sorrow and suffering. Sorrow as the faithful await the arrival of the Savior and suffering to mark Jesus Christ’s 40 days in the desert (Lent). The color also came to symbolize wealth, power and royalty because in antiquity purple dye was very expensive.

During the 20th century, the ecumenical Liturgical Movement prompted the rediscovery of ancient Christian ritual—including the traditional colors of the Western church. … Violet is the ancient royal color and therefore a symbol of the sovereignty of Christ. Violet is also associated with repentance from sin.

What is the Colour of Easter?
The color most commonly associated with the Easter season (or more specifically the season of Lent that precedes Easter Day) is purple. It is the color found in church sanctuaries throughout the world during the season.”

A Life's Journey

I walk almost everyday on the path where I have been seeing this church for more than 2 years now. I have taken several photos of it but was waiting for the perfect moment where I could feel and say “Yes!!I got it.” Yesterday, while coming back from work at night, I felt it. My picture perfect moment…..

Hope that you will like it too.
