When My Heart Was

Nobody gets away with anything in this world!  In the final analysis God has the last word in everything!  Here are a few Scriptures I believe help us to understand this.

1 Peter 3:22 “who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him.”

Psalm 1:1-6  “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous”

James 4:6 “But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

James 4:4 “You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”

Jeremiah 32:18-19 “You show steadfast love to thousands, but you repay the guilt of fathers to their children after them, O great and mighty God, whose name is the Lord of hosts, great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the children of man, rewarding each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds.”

Jeremiah 17:5 “Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord.”

Proverbs 3:34 “Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor.”

Deuteronomy 6:5 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”

Genesis 12:3 “I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

2 Corinthians 6:16-18 “16What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” 17“Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” 18And: “I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

God’s Truth and Justice is self-evident and plain to see in His Holy Word!

John 8:32 “And you will know the truth, and that truth will set you free.”

It won’t be pretty; of that we can be certain! And it will be hard and swift!

Romans 8:7 “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”

Romans 12:2-3 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. 3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but think of yourself with sober judgment, according to the measure of faith God has given you.”

Matthew 18:7 “Woe to the world for the causes of sin. These stumbling blocks must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!”

Matthew 7:23-24 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’ 24Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

To me as I have learned through some hard trials and observing all I can going on around me in this mixed up errant world; God’s judgment will come and to those that bring such calamity upon the multitudes as those we are speaking of have done; this Scripture fits perfectly!

Matthew 18:7 “Woe to the world for the causes of sin. These stumbling blocks must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!”

Ezekiel 18:23-25 “Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Lord GOD. Wouldn’t I prefer that he turn from his ways and live? 24But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity, committing the same abominations as the wicked, will he live? None of the righteous acts he did will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness and sin he has committed, he will die. 25Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear now, O house of Israel: Is it My way that is unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust?”

We, who are faithful in Him alone, must remain vigilant and realize our work to stay upright must be ceaseless; until He brings us home with Him! Amen. This is not easy by any means but we must try our best and forming a religious routine of practicing our Imitation of Christ Jesus being our daily goal and most important work we can perform in our service to our Almighty God; becoming a truly humble faithful servant of the Lord’s!

1 Corinthians 9:27 “Rather, I toughen my body with punches and make it my slave so that I will not be disqualified after I have spread the Good News to others.”

Others who passed this way long before you and I; understood and followed Jesus’ instructions, like Thomas Kempis did.

The Imitation of Christ, by Thomas à Kempis, is a Christian devotional book first composed in Medieval Latin as De Imitatione Christi. The devotional text is divided into four books of detailed spiritual instructions: “Helpful Counsels of the Spiritual Life”, “Directives for the Interior Life”, “On Interior Consolation”, and “On the Blessed Sacrament”.Wikipedia

The most beautiful words and like a song of a beautiful lark we yearn to hear our precious Jesus say upon our departure from this world of tragedy and loss; Matthew 25:23 “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I shall set you over much; enter the joy of your Lord.”

This is all so true and as I see it humility is mandatory for any human being to be worthy of God’s grace; after all He lowed himself from the position and authority of God the Creator of all things seen or unseen; down to here in this fallen world of corruption with its overwhelming sin to save us, through His only Son our Lord Savior and Redeemer Jesus The Christ! In so doing He became one of us to suffer for all of our dirty filthy sins and evils that many people partake of, taking our punishment! If he was willing to do that showing the world such vast infinite love that He offers to us; I think we should be willing to crawl on our faces if required to prove our genuine heartfelt humility!

Accept and receive His most precious gift of Himself the Redemption and New Everlasting Covenant; that He gave Himself his way as the mandatory sacrifice in order to allow us through the Gate to Heaven and be in God’s holy presence!

Again, all of this has reminded me of this book that a fellow worker who had studied to be a priest, gave to me a short time before I had a catastrophic injury and subsequent long road to recovery; from which I will share a few excerpts here with you. It helped me and I’m sure it will help you too!

The Imitation of Christ is a Christian devotional book by Thomas à Kempis, first composed in Latin ca. 1418–1427. It is a handbook for spiritual life arising from the Devotio Moderna movement, of which Kempis was a member.

The Imitation of Christ (De Imitatione Christi), first published in 1418 by the German-Dutch monk and scribe, Thomas Hemerken of Kempen, better known as Thomas à Kempis (1380 – 25 July 1471).

“If God were our one and only desire we would not be so easily upset when our opinions do not find outside acceptance.” ― Thomas à Kempis, The Imitation of Christ

“But he who would fully and feelingly understand the words of Christ must study to make his whole life conformable to that of Christ. What doth it avail thee to discourse profoundly of the Trinity if thou be void of humility, and consequently, displeasing to the Trinity? In truth sublime words not make a man holy and just: but a virtuous life maketh him dear to God.”

“Vanity of vanities and all is vanity.” Eccles 1. 2. “Except to love God and serve Him alone. This is the highest wisdom, by despising the world to tend to heavenly kingdoms.”

Often remember that proverb: “the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor is the ear filled with hearing.” Eccles 1. 8.

“Study, therefore, to withdraw thy heart from the love of visible things and to turn thyself to things invisible.” My Imitation of Christ.

When my heart was sad and I was angry,I was senseless and stupid.I acted like an animal toward you. Psalms 73:21-22 The Holy Bible The New International Version

When we see the wicked enjoying life while we suffer we are all tempted to ask why and have a pity party. We get angry with Jehovah and ask why do they prosper while they cheat us?

What have we done to deserve this?

We ask why they are getting away with it.

We walk around with clouds of doom hanging around our heads.

These suck the joy out of our lives.

It is only when we get on our knees and talk it out with Jehovah that He reveals the truth to us and fills us with His love that we see His love and kindness towards us. Then we are filled with love, joy and respect towards our Heavenly Poppa.
